Now that Paul's got the bugs sorted, someone else can have a go at getting one on the road:
Land Rover Defender 110 1989 | Trade Me
And this one's been brought in to NZ independently of Grays:

I'm keen to try in about 2 years when I next retire a current 4wd work car. Got a lot to clear out between now and then.
Paultan, which configuration have you got? I'd need 4 door 110.
Well bureacracy has certainly gone mad in NZ. I know need to supply and original letter of proof of purchase. I only have a copy so thought I'd try my luck with the Aussie Army. They responded within 5 mins of my email. So I now have an email and a scanned copy of the original (the Army only holds electronic versions of the proof of purchase). Apparently this is till not good enough, (God give me strength). Luckily Aus Frontline have come to my rescue (hopefully) Karen has come across this amazing lack of common sense from Government mandarins, so I have the original in the post on it's way back to me.
Also just wanted to say my previous comments about North Shore Compliance have to be tempered now. I have had to continually chase them for feedback, and after 3 months they have only just informed me that I needed original docs!! My Landy has been with them from Easter and I've had to continually call, email them to news. Not good enough!
I think there is an alternative. I just bought an unregistered vehicle and my local VTNZ gave me a "statutory declaration" form to be filled out and signed by a JP stating that I am the legal owner.
FINALLY !!! My Land Rover is legal in NZ !! Yipppeee!
