I would suggest probably not.
Check out the ADR's relevant to seatbelts (ADR5 rings a bell) and work out a method of conforming to the ADR. Then run it by am automotive engineer. It would be easier to get the engineering done on an Infantry Carrier or Assault Pioneer variant.

It must have been possible, as the civvy One Tens were available as a 9 or 10 seater (registered as a Motor Omnibus, no less!), using the same sort of seats. My County still has the seats, albeit no seatbelts, but there are anchor points still fitted I think. Buried under a false floor mind you...
Then again, the civvy seats are a 1980s modification not a 2014+ modification.

the sideways seats didnt have seatbelts. It was a military exemption to carry troops in the back. Time was they could be driven anywhere with guys in the back, then it was for use in exercise and operations only, then it was an operational requirement only, then that stopped. (hence the IIMV variant of the 6x6.)

you might get away with putting seat belts in but most likely as the sideways seating postion wouldnt comply you'd most likely not get it plated.

One of my 101's has been engineered for sideways mounted bench seats. I was also looking at a troopy Landcruiser as used by a government funded conservation group. It was a fairly modern late 2000's at a guess. It had sideways mounted rear bench seats. I saw them driving off with three people a side seated in the back.
I reckon if you tried, you probably get the Infantry Carrier or Assault Pioneer engineered.

the problem lies in the current requirement of reading the ADR's..

lets say I have a nice 1940's vehicle that doesnt have seatbelts. but I want to fit a seat belt. (remember they are primarily a cargo carrying vehicle that conveniently has the ability to haul people if needed)

to fit one seat belt means I must comply with the regulations for the seatbelts on the day that the seatbelts are installed which means I cant just fit one for the driver, or the front row, I have to fit them to all seats.

The requirement for seat belts on all seats predates the perentie fleet. which means that except for the ADF was exempted from doing it if you want your 10 seater perentie legally able to seat 10 you have to fit seatbelts.

I strongly suspect that as the seats were put in as a "3rd class ride beats a first class walk" kind of deal and was just enough to keep the grunts happy, you'll probably find the seats dont even come close to being of acceptable standard from an ADR/Engineer standpoint.

Good luck with trying to work out what the classification of the rear seating is and how/where to mount your seatbelts.

Interslow is not letting me load the commonwealth sites ATM but I think the change for no sideways seating came in in about 2009/20011 and was hinted at as early as 2000, VSB 5 covers seatbelts and adding extra seats so would be a good place to start looking.

These vehicles were, what, 1990? I'm guessing they won't be far from complying with the ADR's at the time. Needs to be looked at.
My two old Mercs (a '65 and '70) don't require to have seat belts (pre '72) but I wanted them. Only had them installed in the front. No engineering required as the mounting points were already there (being imported vehicles). All I had to do was bolt in ADR compliant belts (readily available in autoparts shops). There were no problems with the registration authorities.

theres a lot of difference between the IC the AP and the GS....

and hes talking about the GS in the first post.
