Rock sliders/Side steps on a Perentie?

Has anyone fitted anything like this to their Perentie? Im hoping to do so without mucking around with the chassis and in particular hoping to avoide breaking the galv.

Will standard Defender gear do the trick?

I have defender TJM side steps on my 1989 perentie. The outriggers are the same as on the County 110s as far as I know.

Cheers mate. Did you fit them yourself?

I did. It was a while ago. I have a vague memory of having to drill two holes in each of the front outriggers to fit the side steps. Otherwise I used the existing holes to mount them.

    How effective?

I too have been thinking about rock sliders. There are 1 or 2 compatible types I found by following some of the ad banners here.

The thing is, with the Perentie, the side sills are nowhere near the lowest point underneath. Exhaust and fuel tank will foul on rocks before the sliders come into play.

Not saying they are not helpful, but perhaps less so on Perentie. "Tree slider" function would work fine (less so on FFRs - "sugar scoops" stick out quite a bit).

Have seen some nice looking rocksliders/sidesteps fitted to a perentie GS and was planning to get some for my FFR until realised that battery compartment door hinges actually attach to bottom sill which makes it bit tricky.

KLR Automotive in South Windsor make rock sliders for the Perentie.

I think I have a photo here somewhere. I'll hunt it out later.

Not entirely true, I have found the sills still get bashed before the exhaust and tank.
