Since the composite hard tops seem to be rare as hens teeth what is the availability of 110 hard tops? Will a Metal 110 hard top fit a Perentie ROPS system? Roll Over Protection System. With a hard top installed is the dust kept down compared to a soft top?
Found this Hard Top conversion here on the web site. This is exactly what I would like. I love the Wolf composite hard top but they don't seem very available.
To answer the second question - yes, with some cutting. This one was recently on Carsales, so I know nothing beyond what the photos show.Quote:

110 hardtops are hard to find but a substitute can be made from a 110 wagon roof (i.e. with alpine windows) and series sides; which are both relatively common.
Thanks for the info on the roof. What do they typically cost? How about a Safari roof. Are those available and what do they cost?
I've seen a wagon roof for $250 and sides for similar, so if you're patient they can be had cheaply. There was never a safari roof for coil sprung Land Rovers, except for the fibreglass one the hardtop Perenties had. I did see one of them for sale (just the safari skin) for $1500. If you consider how incredibly rare they must be that is probably a fair price.Quote:

A combination of both would have been best! The roof still gets a tad warm in the sun with the safari roof and that is only in NZ weather.Quote:

Thank you for the rough pricing on a Hard top set up. I showed the wife the hard top and she loves the idea better than a soft top. Then I showed her the MULGO hard top conversion.

This pop top will keep our bedding out of reach of water (hopefully, if not then we have bigger problems than just a water logged bed.) As the bed is near the top of the roof. This will free up much needed room in the back. We will be able to stand up in the back. Then when we are ready to go to bed you simply pull the bed down. Gas struts hold the top up and another set of gas struts hold the bed near the roof until needed.
I would have the top painted inside and out. Outside would see the same camo pattern as the Rover and the inside would be the lighter color of the camo. The tent sides will be the same material as the soft top camo.
I will NOT have a roof rack on the roof as in the picture. Just 2 solar panels.
The Safari Roof will not be needed at that price. I didn't realize they were that pricey. Thanks.
New List:
1. After picking up both Land Rovers I will have KLR fit them with Power Steering.
2. KLR to install door locks.
3. inspect, repack/replace axle bearings. (I will do this)
4. Front and rear axles will get Ashcroft Air Lockers.
5. Install Hi Tuff and or Ashcroft axles, stub axles, cvs, U joints and flanges ect. (I will do this)
6. All new suspension bushings. (I will do this)
7. Koni Raid Shocks (unless something better comes up). (I will do this)
8. NEW Wolf Military steel wheels with Staun internal bead locks (tubeless tires)
9. All 6 tires balanced (2 spare tires per rig).
10. All new brakes, brake hoses and brake cylinders ect.. (I will do this)
11. Diff protectors and skid plates AS NEEDED if needed. (I will do this)
12. All fluids to be changed. (I will do this)
13. All filters to be changed. (I will do this)
14. All new belts and hoses (one complete extra set as spares per rig). (I will do this)
15. All suspension nuts to be re torqued and locktite applied when applicable. (I will do this)
16. NUGGET's Diff breather. (I will do this)
17. Install larger fuel tanks (200 liters plus combined).
18. Install 3 to 4, 67 liter water tanks per vehicle. Secured to rear floor and plumbed for easy fill and dispensing (electric pump). (I will do this)
19. Hot water shower unit.
20. Install hard top (cab). See #45.
21. Tires will be 255/85R16 Toyo MTs
22. Rhino Line rear bed area.
23. Dynamat cab floor, walls and ceiling. (I will do this)
24. Boom Mat Floor. (I will do this)
25. Install stock rubber floor covering. (I will do this)
26. Custom canvas work for seat covers, tire covers and other items. Same material as the Canvas top. I love that Camo Pattern!
27. Install Air Compressor and tank. Sealed for water crossings.
28. Each rig will be equipped with HF 150 Watt Transceivers. VKS737: The Australian HF Radio & Radio-Telephone Network ! (Thanks to 87COUNTY)
29. 2 solar panels mounted on roof. These charge two Oddessey Batteries completely separate from vehicle electrical system. These power non vehicle related accessories. (I will do this)

31. Install Freeze Fridges (largest possible). 1 per vehicle. (I will do this)
32. Synthetic Rope installed in place of wire rope. (I will do this)
33. Sat Phone per vehicle.

36. Engine mechanical fan to be removed and replaced with electrical fans (an off switch used for water crossings). Open to suggestions on this. (I will do this)

39. Water crossing apron (made from same material as canvas top).
40. KLR rear disc brake conversion.
41. KLR Turbo upgrade.
42. KLR ignition key conversion
43. ARB or comparable Snorkel (I will do this)
44. HD Flanges will have all of the flange bolts installed with the proper Locktite. (This brings up a great point. All typical loosening fasteners should get at least a dab of #1 locktite. This is designed to be able to be broken with a wrench but won't allow vibration to loosen them up.) (I will do this)
45. 110 Hard Top with Series Sides.
46. MUGOL Hard Top tent top conversion.
I started this thread to help guide me to what I want to eventually build. Kind of a check list for me to use when I finally get there. I appreciate everyones input and encourage you to feel free to point out or suggest what you think will work better. Again thank you everyone who has responded so far.
Re: your list - I'd reckon to trim it somewhat, both for cost and for weight.
