Thread: Perentie paint finish

I would just wash and dry it properly.
Any "polish" you put on it will not last long and lanolin tends to attract dust, making it look shabby.
Thants only my opinion though.
You could get the camo to shine but that would need spray painting on a clear coat.

Just take care as these cars are painted in polyurethane paint (PUP) and its not a good idea to disturb it without proper protective gear.

I didn't realise you could buy camouflage paint.


Striped paint yes, but camouflage?

Well three different colors of paint that match my colors but now that it's PUP paint I'm not so sure

I am pretty sure the advice above is wrong and the spray cans available from Protec are enamel.

I once knew a guy who used to have an x-mil olive drab SIII. He didn't like the Matt finish so used to spray it with CRC and polish it. It was unbelievably shiny, but after a short time the paint crazed.

I use paraffin oil with a piece of melted candle wax blended into it, lightly wax all over vehicle when clean, dry and warm in the sun.
Rub off with an old towel to remove excess. Seals the paint nicely and keeps any rusty areas from getting worse.
Does not seem to attract the dust and water beads off it very well when you hose it off from time to time.

the protec cans are an enamel base so are safe to use.

if you must redo the finish in preparation for painting use PPE a properly sealed booth and dispose of the debry with the same care that you would use for hiv fested blood from a radiation exposure victim who had their blood drawn in the middle of an asbestos dust storm while mixing up a concotion of anthrax after it had all been handed to you by an ebola patient with festerin puss laden sores in a cloth bag of dubious hygine.

OR...

with a good water flow over the area rub it down with fine wet and dry while wearing nitriile gloves, an ice cream suit, a respirator and a face mask with the vehicle parked over a large cotton blanket with the edges raised to catch the run off. when your done wrap it all up in the blanket and then seal into a suitable hazardous material bag leave it in the sun for the water to be driven off and then dispose of appropriately...

Unless you have a proper paint booth that has approved filtration DO NOT use power tools or dry techinques on this stuff. also dont set fire to it.


I've also heard tell of a scotchguard product that if applied over clean paint gives a good seal on the paint and a long lasting finish that still looks like the matt finish its applied over
