We have the Tanks at $1940.00
Remember he has to get it to Melbourne, the cheapest perentie at Minto this month (the only December auction) had a drive out price of $8,014.44.
The cheapest one at the most recent Vic auction (Nov) was drive away $7,086.44 (final bid price $6,109.00) and both may still have leaky tanks and what do you do with the rest of the vehicle. Buy another tank?
As I said contact someone like Hilton or Justin Pollard who are wrecking perenties, you're taking a risk on leaks but still better than $4.4K new or the cost of another vehicle and freight on that.
How about just ripping it out entirely and using an aftermarket sill tank? I'm thinking I'll try something along those lines when the original packs it in
I guess it all depends on how original you want to keep it. Personally I would look for a s/h tank as Diana said and keep it original. I reckon eventually some new tanks will hit the market on Grays.
I was lucky enough to score a NOS perentie tank in a pallet of parts sold through Graysonline. It was part of the AAMME excess stock but I thought it was an SIII tank when I bid.
Given the number of people with tank issues I'll be holding onto it for when mine packs up.
talking to a guy who used to run the maintenance for them at Enogerra Barracks a while back. Apparently it's pretty common for the to rust out on top too.
Mud and crap gets up on there and it's not a location that's cleaned much.
Too my drivers seat out and it was solid mud that was dry as a rock. had to chip it out with a cold chisel. nice and clean with a good coat of Lanolin on it now.
Something to keep in mind for those who like a spot of mudding.
