    GS tie down points

    Can you buy them anywhere?
Mine are rusted to hell and need replacing. They are an odd shape (holes are 90x50mm) compared to all the ones I'm finding on ebay etc; which seem to be either square, or just out of square.

<edit> clarification; I'm referring to the cargo tie downs in the tray, not the tie downs for the actual truck!

Have you checked the Repair Parts Scale for the part number? You might be able to get them from Land Rover, or at least look up the part number and see what you find.

or look here and download the part you need. under this heading

Yes, I have the part number (HYG 3861) Land rover does not have any in stock here or in the UK (though the price they have is $150 each! So I would not have been buying any anyway at that price)

I may pull a couple out, take them to get blasted and see how deep the rust goes. My suspicion is quite deep and I can't trust them at WLL.

    Try "landybitzau" on ebay.
I'm finding they have most of what I need there.
Including canvas and some obscure parts.

I'm sure I have tie downs in my watch list...

ahh here they are - known as "body Hooks" - correct terminology.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the lashing rings in the floor of the tub.

Ahh yes, was looking at those on mine today too while replacing an output shaft seal.

    They do look somewhat generic.
These ones are shorter, but I'm pretty sure you could get something that would match the dimensions.

I'll be replacing mine sometime in the future too, so I'll report back here if and when I find something.

You can get a very similar thing (but more heavy duty) from Bunnings in galv steel. Mine were in terrible shape too so I replaced all six with these.

Much better quality than the ones the army used.
