Message from customer: Hi.
I have an ex-army land rover 110. I have tried using your call centre a number of times to find out if
you will insure it. However the consultants have gotten it wrong 3 times now.
This is the vehicle that I have
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Perentie
specifically a 1989 4x4. Truck, Utility, Lightweight, Winch, MC2 (314 Vehicles) is the specific designation.
Can you insure this type of vehicle?
Dear Chris
Thank you for your recent email in relation to insuring the 1989 Land Rover Perentie.
We can confirm the closest model we were able to locate to this vehicle was a 1989 Land Rover One Ten.
For the utility where the one tray folds down at the rear end of the vehicle, there are 2 different types:
1) 1989 Land Rover One Ten with 39cc's and
2) 1989 Land Rover One Ten, equipment model MO with 28cc's.
For a truck where the 3 sides fold down there is a:
1) normal 1989 Land Rover One Ten 39cc vehicle or a
2) 1989 Land Rover One Ten 6x6 39cc vehicle.
The following is the maximum we can insure these vehicle for under an agreed value policy.
$8,060 - normal 1989 Land Rover One Ten 39cc vehicle
$8,060 - 1989 Land Rover One Ten 6x6 39cc vehicle.
$8,060 - 1989 Land Rover One Ten, equipment model MO with 28cc's
$10,790 - 1989 Land Rover One Ten with 39cc's

I've sent them a reply asking her to clarify what she is talking about with those cc's .
It took them 5 days to respond to the original e-mail, still waiting on a response from
my request for more info.
gives you a cheap option, beware no choice of repairer though.
Can't wrap Shannon's enough. Have an 88 Perentie, agreed value for heaps, and policy went down $200 this year, due to restricted use.
Had a D2 written off 2 yrs ago, they were quick with the claim, no probs, and offered the wreck back at cheap $.
They knew what a Perentie was, and happily insure it for good agreed value.
I've had P76s and other non mainstream classics insured with them, and never had an issue.
For what it its worth I eventually had a long discussion with the RAA. They wanted pictures of the car, seemed happy with it (actually said it was one of the best ones they've seen, thought that's probably only because it was clean). Anyway they insured it as a County, with a $2000 'custom paint' add on. Agreed value of $15000 reviewed in a years time, and about $430 premium per year. Very pleased as they have a good name and this is half the price I am now paying.....
Interesting.
Since im looking at purchasing, ive tried a few places,
rang RACQ today and they wont touch it, even spoke to the unique cars section. All they could offer was third party.
Shannons wont give me an agreed value and will only offer to insure the purchase value. they quoted $734 for a value of $12'000
Will try just cars tomorrow and see what hey can do
I've several bikes and Landric (the perentie) with Shannons, they were with NRMA vintage and veteran previously.
No claim history, but happy with the service.
