Crack on Thomson ! sounds like it was a great adventure. When is the next one?
I have just returned to Sydney after a 10000 k trip to Cape York in my G S with no modification , no tubo power steering etc .I am 70 and had no trouble with the steering at all ,in fact I think it gave great feedback on the dirt etc . The truck had a rack on top with some stuff on it ,and at up to 90 k returned around 8.5 k per 100 , but if I went up to 110 k , 12 to 13 . I did the southern part of the Telegraph track and it just plugged along .People I met with their modified trucks were impressed with its ability I holed 2 tyres but that was the only failure , used no oil . I have a moe hair roof roof on it which in a 30 mil rain storm did not let a drop in . It did make flapping noise at above 90 ,but I fitted a paper toilet roll above the interior light ,and that reduced it quite a lot. The next mod will be a centre support from the windscreen to the first hoop .I am a first time 4 by 4 guy and I was very impressed the the truck comfort and ability , but it did let a lot of dust in . I plan on putting a brush seal on top of the trucks frame to push into the soft top on the sides and back I did jam a piece off wood between the sliding glass to stop the rattle , something will have to be done about that. Some where on the trip I lost the black out switch knob , if anybody has one I would like to buy it . Looking FWD to the next trip .

If you had read some off my posts you see I had to replace the diaphragm for the 4 wheel drive ,I did try to find out what all the relays did but failed , had injectors serviced ,beside that changed the oil and filters , put new tubes in the tyres , which when I had my first tyre failure was told I should have gone tubeless , confirmed by the guy who did my second failure .Fitted out the back myself ( I sleep in the back between the storage box and the fridge and spare wheel ) I fitted a water tank where the wheel used to live , carried ,hoses, belt ,tools. tie straps , etc .I would like P1000311.jpg to fit another fuel tank somewhere before the next trip .
