Hi All,
Can anyone on the forum confirm the 1991 Perentie wiper motor is part number RTC4678. I unfortunately have to replace mine and can't see a part number stamped on the unit. I have been quoted between $900-$1000 from a local Landrover shop for a RTC4678. Sounds very expensive! Has anyone else had to replace theirs? Is that price around the mark for a genuine unit?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Regards Warrick.

Thanks for confirmation Bearman. I will start my quest ........... Now!
I have been toying with the idea of buying a non operational Perentie at one of the upcoming auctions, if they go at a reasonable price, to source parts from. $1000 WIPER MOTORS are almost justifying my idea!

I bought one of these...

One problem is that the automatic stop mechanism did (does?) not come with it and the original one is not compatible so I have to now switch off the wipers at the right spot.
The replacing of I found a bit of a job because it is awkward but another pair of hands would have helped.

Thanks for the tip and the link. I notice that the link takes me to part number RTC3867 and the part I have been quoted for the Perentie is RTC4678 as being the correct replacement part. Is the different number because RTC4678 has the auto stop? I am happy to not have the auto stop but just want to make sure RTC3867 fits. I guess what I am asking is did you install a RTC3867 into a Perentie?
Thanks again.
Regards Warrick.

Just to confirm, RTC4678 is the part number from the Army RPS.
Hi All,
Thanks for the advice and confirmation of the Perentie wiper motor part number. Just thought I would close the circle on the story by letting you all know that I ended up importing an original unit from England. I used LR Direct Land Rover Parts and Spares Direct to source and ship the part after quite a bit of research. Very happy with the service they provide and would recommend them to any one who needs to source original Land Rover parts from the Uk.
I was quoted over $1000 for an original military wiper motor from companies in Australia and ended up paying about half that including shipping to my door from LR Direct. Still expensive for a wiper motor in my opinion but saving around $500 made me feel a bit more comfortable with the purchase.
Regards Warrick.

Hello all.
Been doing a bit of searching as we had our first snow couple days ago here in Colorado and went for a spin. Perentie handled the 8-10 inches of snow without trouble! the wipers well, ssssssllllllloooooooowwwwww.
In looking around on Aulro a bit for wiper mentions found the thread about super expensive options. Here in the USA we have Rovers North, shop not far from where I used to live. Anyway...the short of it, though you may need to pay some shipping on parts- they have their own line of Land Rover bits ProLine. I used them in my discos and have already ordered a few for the Perentie.
Here's a wiper motor and gear options for the future perhaps.
