Perentie 6x6 24 volt charging system
G'day all, I'm no electromechanical scientological engineer but I've spent my afternoon trying to get my head around the 12/24 volt system in my comsec pod and found something rather strange. There is a relay that interrupts the power supply between the 24 volt generator and the auxiliary batteries that is normally open and is actuated by the heater fan blower switch meaning the aux batteries don't charge unless the fan is on.
Does anyone know land rovers theory behind this?

I hope this assists but it may not
there is a wiring diagram at Database |
(download the 6x6 "light repair" doc, the diagrams are at the end of that document)
the 24v section of the second page notes that the fan circuit is related to the internal 24v light system - I'm not clear on how it is affecting the charging of the 24v system batteries.

Yeah, I checked out the wiring diagram when I brought the thing but didn't realise I had to have the heater on to charge the batteries. Must have been their answer to fitting a vsr.

Its ok to have to heater fan on to charge the battery , BUT not when its 40 plus out side and you have the air con on as well and carnt figger out why the air con isn't working as it should , yep took awhile...…. We still smile about it...
