    Perentie Tool Kit

OK - So what should actually be in the Perentie's tool kit?

Got my Perentie FFR privately a couple of weeks back, the vendor bought it auction last October but hadn't really used or touched it (800kms since sold).
Anyway I emptied out the tool lockers, door pockets etc and laid everything out on Saturday.

Overall pretty happy, this is what I found:

    - Locker key (in its pouch in the bottom of the driver's door)
    - Jack, Base & Handle
    - Wheel brace
    - Warning triangles
    - Galvanised pouring can
    - 2 wheel chocks
    - Jerry can pourer (bit dodgy looking, Mil Spec?)
    - Tyre pump ( Mil Spec? Cheap and nasty)
    - Box of assorted bulbs, valve cores, valve caps, valve remover & 3 brass discs on keyrings
    - Tool Roll containing:
    - 10" shifter
    - Philips No 3 x 150mm screwdriver
    - Philips No 4 x 200mm screwdriver
    - 5mm x 100mm flat screwdriver
    - 12mm combination spanner
    - 14mm combination spanner
    - 17mm combination spanner
    - 19mm combination spanner
    - 1/2" socket "L" bar
    - 1/2" x 9/16" open end spanner
    - 1/2" x 9/16" offset ring spanner
    - Tyre pressure gauge

Spanners are all Sidchrome, screwdrivers would seem to have had some replacements, one Fuller, one Crescent while the oldest is a Stanley
Tyre pump I can only assume is not original (even if replaced by the army) as its a really cheap bit of gear, similarly the jerry can pourer.

Things I'd have thought would be there would be a 10mm combination spanner, a No 2 Philips and a pair of pliers

Also a bit of a mystery are the brass discs as they have no markings

    Any ideas on what's missing?

You should be happy to have received as much as you did

I know a good 'ol L bar is often there but I have often wondered why there are no 1/2" sockets to go with it ... especially for one for the wading plug.

FWIW, in addition, I carry a flare nut spanner 14mm X 17mm to assist with bleeding in the unlikely event that you need to bleed the system (eg. run out of fuel, replace a fuel line etc). Easier than using open-enders.

I agree with you that a 10mm comb spanner can be handy to assist with tarp fitting/adjustment.

... and Philips screwdrivers are necessary for hose clamps and access to the lights to replace bulbs. Also, long nose and combo pliers and a shifter can be handy.

Don't forget to add the gorilla tape

    Hi Mate,

I'd be happy with that tool bag - my FFR came with absolutely NOTHING!

No jack, wheel brace, tools, chocks, ZIP.

Nice looking accessories you have there.

    Cheers,
    GG.

I'm certainly more than happy with the tools that came with my Perentie - but would be really interested to know what the "official" kit was made up of.
I'll be at the All British Day on Sunday, so maybe some of the folks there will be able to shed some light.

    Cheers

    One half of dog tags.......

Maybe it’s for when the operator thinks the is going to take of the 110 he stamps the ARN onto the tag, drops it in the gearbox so it jams and the enemy cannot drive it away.

I did see some units stamp the ARN and fix them to the CES and other bits so when it came time to get them out of storage they knew which car or equipment it belonged to.
