[QUOTE=DazzaTD5;2853848]I dont think you can go past 235/85R16.
I've driven a Perentie with 235 all terrains and it was very smooth n quiet.

    Have to agree with this.

I went 235/85 AT on wolf tubeless rims- much nicer ride over originals.

If you use perentie rims with tubeless tyres don't expect any insurance company to pay out you have to use safety rims hence the 16R on tubeless tyres

I’d assume only if the tyre/rim contributed to the accident

Obviously don't question the Australian Army's design brief why do you think they put tubes in radial tyres

As far as I can see, this is not correct.
I havent seen anything in any ADR or other legal requirement, state, federal or otherwise stating tubeless tyres can not be fitted to 'tubed" wheels. Tubeless tyres have a tighter fitting bead when compared to an older tubed tyre, so even on a tubed wheel it will be a tighter fit.
I remember being 18, my first trip way up north and removing a tubeless tyre from a old tubed wheel by hand was a bugger of a thing to do compared to the old tubed tyres.

Please show any legal info stating this and not hear say from a mate or a tyre fitting centre and I will stand corrected.

You are more likely to get knocked back by an insurance Co for a suspension lift kit or really big tyres.
    Regards

I dont know that the Australian Army are the be all and end all to knowing that much to be honest.

Everyone outside in the real world seem to have the professional opinion that putting tubes in a tubeless tyre is a big no no due to excessive heat build up.

Wolf Rims shod with 255 85 16 BFG's. Good combo for my RFSV as the outside diameter is pretty close to the original split rim/Michelin set up. The gearing on an RFSV is lower than FFR's and Cargo Perentie's and I still wanted to be able to sit on 100km's an hour with out wearing earmuffs!

I set up my number 5 trailer with the same wheels and tyres so they are inter-changeable between car and trailer. I also am able to carry a couple of spares on the RFSV and another on the number 5.

I am really happy with these wheels and tyres and would recommend tubeless wolf rims and BFG's. It did cost a bit to set it up as the Wolf rims are not that cheap and BFG's are at the top end of the tyre choice but in this case you get what you for.

Much quieter and a better ride both for comfort and steering than the original tubed split rims shod with the original Michelin tyres.

Some images below of my set up.

    Regards Warrick.
