The Army Trialed 3” straight through no muffler on the bushranger trials.....along with adjusting the fuel......
The outcome was a decent improvement....you will need to adjust the fuel screw.
The two GMV’s were returned to OEM spec.
Hi all,
I'm in a position that I can upgrade my exhaust on the 6x6 but I would like some advice on if this is worthwhile and what sizes people have used. I've heard that fitting a 3" exhaust from the turbo dump pipe thing is worthwhile with an increase in power and efficiency. I have put a price request into mechanic in town as they supply mandrel bends etc but they're saying a turbo works on back pressure and by de-restricting the exhaust I will actually loose power.
Has anyone got any first hand experience with this?
Cheers, Geoff

Possibly ring or contact KLR in Sth Windsor Sydney who tend to specialise in the perenties so they should know what works/what doesn't. They mostly use Windsor Exhausts {in Richmond!) re supply/fitting--have done a lot. I have no connection with KLR but they do know the perenties.

you go get yourself a 3 inch mandrel bend setup in add an boost gauge an egt and get to know what its doing first. Then drop me a line, I know a guy who'll make that thing sing for ya.
Same guy will probably also help you swap in 3.54 diffs if you want so you can use the extra power effectively (unless you tow a lot or run extra heavy in which case 4.11 is fine)

Awesome, thanks guys. Looks like I'll be ordering a 3" exhaust on Monday 😉
And the mechanic isn't my mechanic, it's just the only place in town that has a mandrel bender
OK, 3" exhaust is finally done. It's a bit backyard but hey, I did it myself without a bender and I'm happy with it. Egt is in as well so I think it's time to start playing with the fuel screw. Silly question though, which one is the fuel screw and which way do I turn it to make it go faster 🤣🤣. I'll be marking it so I can put it back where it was, just want to slowly wind it up till I'm happy with the performance, fuel economy and egt temps

define faster,
do you want more top speed or better pulling to the current speed.
the former I do not reccomend you achieve via messing with the engine but change the tyre size and gearing, the latter.....
couple of bobs and bits to mess with and the first thing I suggest is grab the EMEI that has the tech descrption of every thing so you know what the pump is doing, it also has the pics of what you need to adjust.

Hi Dave, I don't want to go faster tbh, I just want to see if I can get slightly better performance especially pulling up hills on the highway. At the moment even bread trucks and semis are overtaking me 😩😩
