    Intercooler for the Isuzu engine

I have a Perentie 6*6 (possibly the only one in the UK - unless anyone knows otherwise?)

It lacks power particularly going up hills and it has been suggested I fit an Intercooler.
So far I have not been able to find a source here in the UK

    Has anyone tried an Intercooler?
If so, did it improve performance?
Do you know where I could get an Intercooler suitable for the ex Australian Army Ambulance model?

Any assistance / advice would be much appreciated.
    Regards PiersB

There are threads on here. The easiest path is a TD5 rad and intercooler. Mostly though you will be better off with a better turbo.

You can get extra performance in the stock arrangement by turning up the fuel screw, fit larger exhaust removing muffler and remove inner air filter and dyno tune.

Our GMV’s (similar pod as your am I) had this done during the bush master trials. Made the 6B heaps more drivable. Sadly we had to return them to stock arrangement.

Replace the turbo for a better one before fitting an intercooler. Then tune the engine.
Personally i wouldn't bother with the intercooler, unless you are going for max tuning and adding a lot of fuel. But if you do, fit the biggest one possible, or go for a water to air.

Thanks for the recommendation that I go straight for the higher spec turbo.
The company I have been talking to in England has been telling me I need the Intercooler first but have not been able to find a suitable Intercooler yet.

Be a lot cheaper if I simply fit a better turbo

Done a TD5 rad plus IC..bit of a tight fit in a Perentie tho but can be done with some surgery eg cut off the std rad mounts..drill holes in x member for TD5 mounts...reverse the bonnet catch stays etc. Rad is new..300 bucks or so..IC 2nd hand 50 bucks. Holset HX30 turbo was 900 bucks. Will be a lot cheaper for you tho 😎
