I've got a T9000 which might have a slightly larger drum than the T8000. I've got 40 metres x 10mm Dyneema SK75 on it and there's still plenty of room for more rope. You'll need to file down the sharp edges on the drum cable guides before using rope (not completely, just enough to get rid of the sharpness). And you'll need one of those rope grabbers. Drifta have them for $25. ROPE GRABBER - Drifta Camping & 4WD
Rope costs more than steel and you'll probably want to change to rope 'soft shackles' and 'snatch recovery ring(s)' instead of the old style snatch block adding a bit more expense. On the upside it'll save a considerable amount of weight not to mention being much safer.
