Odometer stopped but speedo still working
Hi all, my Perentie’s odometer stopped just as it clicked over 100k. Speedo is still working fine. The trip counter also works fine.
I assume the odometer’s round number isn’t a coincidence and that there’s a jam inside the unit itself, though happy to be corrected with other ideas. Before I start messing with things, is the speedo repairable or is it all sealed?
Thanks, Steve.

If it's like an old Range rover (and I think it is) There is a nylon cross shaft at the back of the speedo which causes the odometer to advance. The crossshaft will lose its lubrication over many years and heat cycles and may then strip the teeth.
I built a couple of new teeth on mine many years ago using an epoxy plastic stuff and a jewellers file. Maybe if you are patient you could rebuild with a bit of UV epoxy and a jewellers file, or get it fixed at a speedo place.

Thanks Philip, that sounds eminently doable. I’ll have a go at it.
