Q & A WITH NANOCOM
for whats its worth I have cut and pasted a couple of recent questions and responses from nanocom in case anyone is interested.
Q1 FAQ 25 05 2009 - Overheating warning and buzzer installation
Hi folks - just checking if this FAQ is still current ie I need to source an appropriate buzzer to add to my new evo to complete my temp warning capabilities. I also noted from the AULRO forum that some people have had a problem (in the past?) with the temp warning not operating properly - I propose to set mine at 93 or 94 degrees celcius. Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

That particular FAQ is actually for the original Nanocom one which is shown on the picture and the usage of Firmware 2.05 (which was withdrawn prior to us purchasing the Nanocom company). The new units have built in sound whereas the original units did not hence the need to solder a speaker to the board. We have tested the overheating warning several times and the only issue found was that once the temp had been breached and the warning sounds, it then has to be reset before it will work again.
Q2 ANY OPTIONS FOR ADJUSTING NANOCOM SUB MENUS?
In TD5 INSTRUMENT, is the order of sub menus fixed? For example, the primary displays I would prefer include engine coolant temperature, volts and then perhaps exhaust gas temp. Some of the items in pages 1 and 2 I would rarely refer to eg road speed as I have both a working speedo and a GPS. Could individually nominated existing displays within the group be put on the first page to save having to scroll through all the time? Would be a great selling point if customers could customise the instrument menus to suit their preferences!!!!

The menus are a set item and to make them interchangeable would not be cost efficient to start rewriting the program which would then increase the costs of the unit. The fact that the nanocom has such information in the first place is a massive step over other so called diagnostic tools.
Cheers Gavin
