    Delayed SMS and Phone Messages

    Gday

I've just been away for 3 weeks in another country

I pulled my Telstra SIM card out while I was over there and bought a Pre-Paid SIM and used that while I was there.

When I got back home I put the Telstra SIM back in and turned the phone back on. I didn't receive any messages at all. Now I'm not hugely popular I know but.. I spoke to someone today and they told me they had sent me a message while I was away

So my question is will I eventually receive some messages or are they lost in cyberspace?

The phone has now been on for 24+ hours

    Thanks

It depends. Messages are typically sent with a certain validity, if they can't be delivered before then end of the validity period, no they won't be received. My phone has the option of 15 minutes through to 2 weeks, then max. Not sure how long max is. By default I think mine were set for a week validity. I changed it to max.

So if those who have sent messages only have a period of a week for delivery, than no, you may not receive them.

If you have an iPhone, you may have to do a reset.

I'm with Telstra and its often days before I get a voicemail notification.

SMS always seem to come through quickly though.

I have had this problem with 3 iPhones over 2.5 yrs.
