i picked up a simoco srm 9000 radio today its a srm 9030 from my research i think was head of its class when came out. i have no idea how to operate it and if i learnt would it be beneficial to me looking for some sort of advice regarding this. cheers

Simoco make quality gear.
If that radio is an SRM9030 then it's one of their current models.

A quick Google search for "SRM9030 simoco manual" produced a few hits worth following.

hey i have been googling all day to try make sense of it its almost another language. really want to know if i can use it as a standard uhf as in talk in a convoy with people with standard radios and also the benefits of having such a complex radio. i am aware it is a pretty broad question. any advice would be appreciated.

Another thing is that being a commercial unit it will have 25W output on transmit, exceeding the CB limit by 15W Although some that are dual purpose do auto switch to 5w when activated in CB mode , It may also be "Listen only" on the band. Soooo many programmable varibilities with modern Commercial units!

Do you know what frequency range it is?, is it programmed and if so what frequencies are in it, this is a commercial radio and depending on it frequency range may not be suitable for UHF CB ( if thats your intention), the band will be on the sticker near the serial number, and will be a letter or number or both I.E- A, B, A9, W, W1 EO, W4 and so on those give you the frequency range, W1 is the one you looking for which will cover the UHF Band on 476mhz, programming is done by PC interface and a cable to mike socket, you can get them on EBay for about $40, the software is more difficult as its proprietary and in most cases particular the the hardware code of the radio, the EEPROM may need to be flashed too before programming, programming these radios is not a simple task.....

Of course if it already programmed and tuned to UHF CB.... just disregard what I have written and find a user manual...

thanks for the replies. the code on the radio is Ac which is 136 to 174 mhz. is this for vhf?
