    programming channels on Barrett 550

I asked the radio techs who fitted my Barrett 550 to make sure channels for VKE237 were set up. They didn't. Stupid me for assuming they did what I asked.

Is it possible me to program specific frequencies to a channel?

    thanks

I would think by now you would have solved this problem. In short the answer is no. It needs to be done withe the software and a cable. You can get these and do it yourself ( Iv done my own) but if your traveling out bush not a bad idea to have the techs do it and give you the most up-to-date land pack software.

I see this thread is about 12 months old, but here is hoping. So does this mean that you actually have the 550 software? I have been looking for it for quite a while now with no luck. I have found instructions on how to use it, how to make it run on a modern pc by using DOSbox emulator, the pinouts to make the cabling, even found a serial port card in my box of pc parts that works under Win 8.1. But I have had no luck with the software.
My 550 was bought new from Barrett in Perth in 1998 for a round OZ trip & still has the channels programmed at that time, so has some not used any more and is missing some others.
I can pass on this info if anyone is interested, but I would very much like to get hold of the software.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tommo

Yes, I got a tech in Brisbane to tune my 550. I used it quite a few times to make calls while travelling through central Australia.
