Hi, just google black vue 500, there's heaps there, and better than I can explain ..I also got the continuous power supply, this enables the camera to be a CCTV viewable from I phone or I pad up to 10m and enables it to come on in case of impact...I got mine from Radars direct in Perth and they where great to deal with ...Gary
I've been comparing features and think this full HD, compressed recording, infra-red (but maybe useless) LEDs camera for $60 plus a $30 32GB card would probably suit me, particularly with its ball mount allowing it to be readily pointed in any direction. It doesn't have a GPS but I don't know why a GPS position might be useful. Virtually the same unit but with a hinged mount can be bought for $44 (no card) direct ex China. I'm not sure that having a G-sensor to stop the recording moments after an abrupt stop is a good idea for either accidents or when driving on rough tracks.

Hi again, there is the old saying, which some times I put to the test. You get what you pay for...that said I just purchased a couple of Chinese led light bars and so far very impressed.
Back to the camera..if it can't clearly show what you need in a near miss etc. then it's more or less useless..before you buy try to find some one with the same unit and get their feed back
The Blackvue has the same 2.0 MP optical sensor and no better recording modes than the one in my link although the Blackvue comes with a GPS and PC software to make searching of and storing the files easier. The Blackvue's mount may also be steadier than others that hang away from the windscreen. However the specs of these are a lot better than the camera being sold by Officeworks and others and the multitude of other cameras with similar specs. Whilst some new cameras are fitted with a 5 MP optical sensor that may produce better pictures in some circumstances, it seems that the 2.0 MP sensors are good enough for traffic recording at the higher stored picture resolutions and when sufficiently fast memory cards are used.
that LED flood in the video blinded me from here, I would seriously hate to come around a corner towards you where you didn't see my lights coming.
Can you use something like the GoPro for this purpose? Feel that it should be in higher resolution.
Yes but it lacks the automatic control of the vehicle specific cameras. They turn on with power from the vehicle and start recording straight away. They record events from motion detection and stuff like that.Quote:
