    Unhappy Update

Well, did not have to wait long. Hooked up the van for easter and no video to the screen from the van camera. All other functions are working and van camera checks out OK, checked the connector at the back of the car and found 9V again. So, I have sent the screen back to Polaris with a reasonably detailed history and am waiting on their reply and a screen that works to come back to me. I have used the power socket fuse as the pick up for the Acc input to the screen, it just provides a 12V signal to turn the screen on when the car wakes up. This is the input that does not have a voltage regulator/filter installed. I would be very interested in anyone's input about the likelihood of a voltage spike on that circuit, though I can not see it just causing a problem with the caravan video feed while all other functions in the unit are OK. The upside is I will be taking very careful notice of DAB dropout as I drive around the place so that when I get the screen back I can make more informed comment.

    Onward.

Another short update. Screen came back from Polaris, caravan camera not working turned out to be a setting........ohhhh the embarrassment

Anyway, I took the opportunity to do a few tests, found a bit of road near me that passes under an overpass.
No screen fitted, no DAB drop out.
Screen inplace but not powered up, no DAB drop out.
Screen in place and powered out, massive drop out, and interruptions to signal all the time.

I recorded some videos and sent them to Polaris and they have been very helpful, I will add more later.
