    Dual AUX battery wiring diagram

Here is a wiring diagram of the Dual Aux battery set up I am going to install when I get around to it. Please feel free to comment or use it for yourselves.BATTERY WIRE UP.pdf

There's a bit going on there.
What vehicle do you propose this goes into?

Huge overkill for sure, and you'll likely struggle with a few items.

Dont move the main battery earth - leave it well alone.

The Blue Sea selectors arent needed either, complexity for the sake of such in this case.

Do away with the Hayman Reese controller and go the Latest Generation Redarc Tow Pro Elite.

    Wiring diagram

This will be for a 110 defender.

Thanks for your comments Tombie. I must has miss-read the installation instructions for the battery monitor. For some reason I thought the main battery terminal needed to be relocated to the shunt. I am aware the battery selectors are not needed but since I have one already (I got cheap) I thought I might as well add that functionality. I wont be towing the camper trailer too much but it will give me options. The second battery selector is just a quick way to keep the radios operational should I ever need to isolate the Aux 1 battery for some reason.

What is your reason for the Redarc over the Hayman Reese? I have the HR left over from another vehicle that I never got round to installing.

    All comments were welcomed.

Picking up an old(er) thread ... to help anyone else looking at this

    Some initial comments from me:

    1. As Tombie said - don't touch the earth on the main battery. If you have it as per your diagram you have the full starter motor current going through the shunt.

    2. You have configured the Enerdrive battery monitor to "monitor" the starter battery. Seems strange since i believe really only are interested in state of AUX1 and AUX2 (Starter battery already has a VSR and battery selector to allow it to be isolated). To that end I would configure it so that Enerdrive sees AUX1 as the main battery (has the shunt) and AUX2 is the auxiliary battery.

    3. The Battery selector does not allow you to connect AUX1 to AUX2 without also connecting the Starter Battery. While not a great concern as you have a VSR my old school brain still like the idea of being able to use all the auxiliary storage without touching the cars primary battery.

    4. Not sure if I would bother with a fuse on each arm of the Solar Charge Controllers. Perhaps just one on the load side would suffice.

    5. The sub circuit diagram for Aux Loads shows that you now have an electrical path (if you select position 1&2) that bypasses the VSR putting the starter battery at risk.

I hope that helps and more importantly make sense

    Cheers
