As long as you turn on WiFi calling on your I Phone & allow it to hot spot off your Telstra mobile I don't see a problem. Obviously turn on the Telstra Mobile hot spot too. You will be using your Telstra phone data.

Cel-Fi is definitely more convenient but there are other options.

Thanks,we do that quite a bit,but then its still mucking about with two phones, different chargers, etc.
We also use it to hot spot an Ipad sometimes.

Anyway, life wasnt meant to be easy

    To answer your question Scarry,
I think celfi go is still the easiest option as long as there is a signal out there. For remote travel I would still carry a sat phone.

The Cel-Fi system is currently the only system approved by mobile phone carriers on Australia. The ACMA has a list of approved mobile phone network repeaters/boosters here.

Be wary of the cheapies that are too good to be true, or an order of magnitude cheaper than the Cel-Fi. They cause interference to to mobile phone network among other issues. Your carrier may become unhappy and send the radiomen out in the antenna-clad vans.

I have configured a few of them for customers and they work well. Remember they can be switched between networks (I.e. Optus and Telstra), but can not do both at the same time. Switching is simple as opening the app, hitting the button and restarting.

When I was looking to buy a celfi go I went to our local jaycar shop, fella mentioned a dual sim celfigo so I thought I would grab one, he rang supplier whilst I was there apparently the dual sim unit was not available with no known landing date, that was a few weeks ago so I purchased an Optus unit.

Sim? I don’t think that my Cellfigo has a sim?

How exactly do you switch between Telstra & Optus in the app?
