I'm curious to know if my Woolworths mobile will work everywhere on Telstra or if I should just shift to Telstra. What do you think?

Depends on what you need right now. Woolies SIM’s seem to work ok - I know a few people with them but they don’t travel much either but say they work when Optus doesn’t when out of town a bit.

My work phone (only phone) is on Telstra and on my drive from Melbourne to Mildura yesterday, there wasn’t a single point of the journey that was out of coverage - never had that happen before, even with Telstra so they are still filling in black spots. I think if you are travelling and want maximum coverage, Telstra is the best option, even though they are the devil incarnate. They know they have people (particularly businesses) by the balls.

Whilst Telstra cost me more, they deliver a lot more.
I went to Optus and regretted that decision immediately.
Their customer service was worse (hard to imagine but it was horrendous) and their coverage mediocre at best.

Don't get me started on Optus... Someone at work decided they could save the company a fortune by swapping over to Optus - we are a large National company with branches all over the place in the Country. It proved to be a disaster and almost all of the Country branches were swapped back to Telstra quite quickly. I travel all around the State and found I had no signal most of the time - I had to borrow customers phones to make calls from sites on more than one occasion. They have put me back on Telstra now as well after a painful 3 months on Optus. Of course our plans are much more expensive than what they were before when all of the phones were with one carrier...

The person involved at Corporate got the axe shortly after this - our whole fleet of phones now costs us slightly more than what it did when they were all on Telstra and we can't get the same deal we had to take everyone back so those in the City have Optus while those in the Country or who travel for their job like me are on Telstra.

Ain't Corporate thinking just the best!!!

We went through the telstra/optus comparison recently, for the business, and telstra costs are very little more, actually t was negligible.

And Telstra is the only carrier that works at the property, and other areas where we work.

Been with telstra for over the last 7yrs,so thats where we stayed.

We did have an issue recently where we now have to pay for the data only SIMs in the iPads, but a quick call to telstra business had that sorted and they reduced the costs to 1/4 what they originally told us they would charge.

FWIW,when we have an issue, which is very rare,we use Telstra 24/7 chat, and they seem to sort things out quickly.
Being with Telstra business also speeds up having things sorted.

Can report the CelFi booster on the Telstra network does indeed work with an Aldi Sim card , boosting no signal on the phone to 5 bars with booster switched on , That was about 30km south of Isisford . But it only works where there is a 3G 850mhz signal . In Yaraka where there is a good Telstra 4g signal there is no Aldi at all even with CelFi

Best money I have ever spent. I got one in the car Friday week ago and found it was boosting 4G. I have only ever seen 1 bar of 3g on our place at best Ever! I get 2 bars of 4g at the end of the drive where the phone used to always drop out if coming from town. This is a Cell Fi Go for Telstra.

Last Tuesday Telstra came and installed one in the house and I have never got a bar of anything in the house. The house is mudbrick and not conducive to propagating mobile signals. The tech set up it up outside on the end of a pole to see if it would work before installing it. It can't amplify a signal that is not there.

The end result is four bars down to two bars of 4G depending on where you are in the house. I can send and receive text messages and can sign into the work computer without having to retrieve a text message code from up the paddock that times out by the time you get back. The signal does seem to go up and down depending on weather I guess but I have not seen anything less than 2 bars of service of 4g since installing it.

I can not tell you all what a life changing thing event this is for us. Something so simple as phone coverage is not just about making a phone call, there are so many sites that use two factor identification such as mygov that would drive us mad. It is such a luxury!

The stationary units do not like to be moved around apparently and all cel fis need to be registered. So amazing, people that do not suffer from marginal coverage have no idea of how frustrating it is. I am seriously impressed and would recommend one.

Telstra charged me $1,300 installed which was cheaper than getting another mob out and they tack it on the home ph bill. The one in the car was $1,000 installed. The main difference is the yagi antenna on the house unit which is worth a few $$ and a panel antenna for the internal antenna instead of the Router type looking antenna made a huge difference in a mud brick house.

If you come to my house with a Telstra phone or jump in the car it will just hook in and pick up the signal from the unit. You can download the Cel fi Wave app which allows you to adjust the settings of the unit via bluetooth. You can boost 4g, 3G or have as Auto and heaps of other stuff that I don't know much about. GET ON IT PEOPLE! Hope this helps someone!

Telstra will probably hand them out free if enough people complain, A lot cheaper than throwing up another tower.

Esp fixed units. Google "Universal Service Obligation"

We're investigating a home Telstra Cel-fi Go at the moment, getting quotes, so thanks for the information.
Main difference seems to be which antenna is used.
Units come standard with a 10m cable, so longer cable also costs more.

They have 2 cables, one to the outside antenna and then another to the inside antenna. There needs to be a fair bit of separation between the 2. If it is for home, then something very directional will be the go and you can point it straight at the phone tower. That’s what we do with ours.
    Cheers
