    This has not been my experience with marine alternators but then again, they are usually old automotive diesel engines repurposed to be used in a boat. (at least they are over here). Given that they are mostly from anywhere between the 50's and early 80's I guess that is perhaps not representative anymore

    marine alternators are in a different environment and a different application.
