    Charger For Samsung Phone

I have finally taken the plunge and bought a smart phone.

Now having been used to a phone that lasts a week between charges, this is a bit of a shock to me.

So I want convenience here. I have a Samsung S10e which has wireless charging capability.

This is something which appeals to me, as when I get home I can just put the phone down on the charger and forget it.

However, there are a lot of different chargers on ebay. As I know nothing about this stuff, are there any pitfalls I should know about

Any advice on what to get/not to get would be very much appreciated.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I have an S8+ .. uses Qi charging too.
My previous phone was an LG something-or-other .. didn't have Qi charging, but bought bits and pieces to make it so.
    Worked very well.
For home use, just got a sticky pad on a pedestal thing(about $10). Not magnetic, just sticky. When dust builds up too much, give it a wipe with a clean damp cloth, dust removed, sticky again. Works really well with both the LG(aftermaket Qi) and the S8+ natively.

I reckon I went through about 3(min) wireless charging holders for car.

Best car charger I got was the BFC magnetic wireless(Qi) mount. Just needs a magnet ring(supplied) on the phone. The magnet ring needs to be set around the Qi coil area on the phone. This way when you place the phone on the mount, it's automatically set to sit properly coil to coil .. charged perfectly. BFC was my fave because nothing(ever) had the phone come off the mount. Easy to get off by hand, but never fell off mount no matter how bumpy the bump I hit(in my D1).
Only issue with mounts(all mounts) was the suction cups sitting in direct sun, get hot let go... mount and or phone on the car floor.
I jerry rigged up a head for the BFC mount charger on a RAM mount. RAM mounts hold a lot better(that is the suction cups), and their system is about the the most rigid I've experienced so far. There could be others out there, just never needed to look for any since starting to use my RAM mounts.

It all worked perfectly until I got the S8+
For some reason, the BFC charger just won't charge the S8+ Can't work out why. Coils lined up, silicon cover off phone... etc. Just will not charge it at all.

    So had to start again.
Found two that seemed like they would work. Actually both work, in that they charge the S8+.
One of them is a pad on a silver ball, and no easy way to mount it to the RAM mount.
The other used a normal ball mount with a clip on/off clip/pad set up. Some double sided tape and a screw later, got it to hold steady on the end of the RAM.
Been on the windscreen since about Jan(maybe early feb) .. no worries. Charges without issue, OTHER THAN .. on a hot day the phone gets hot being on the dash and in direct sun, so warns that is hot and charging stopped.
I pull the USB cable out of the magnetic charge holder unit, and no worries.

Link to Qi magnetic mount on Ebay.

I can recommend that unit to both hold the phone and charge it wirelessly too.
As it is, as a mount is useless. The mount section(section you stick to the surface that holds it all) is hopelessly inadequate.
That was the section that I hacked to bits, and stuck and screwed onto my RAM mount.

For home use, I have a Samsung Qi charger pad. works fine. Only issue with it is that, while it sits the phone on an angle(I prefer that, rather than flat), it only sits it on an angle in landscape orientation(ie. horizontally) .. which I don't like.
I prefer the phone in portrait(upright) orientation at an angle(~ 45°).
My office sticky Qi charger is like that. So I can do normal phone stuff with it on it's stand, while it's charging(or not).
The office charger stand is the one I use 99.9% of the time. Very occasionally I may set it on the Samsung pad, which is in the hallway just outside my bedroom, but only if I have to set a very early alarm and want the phone charged up for the next day.
If I put it in my room, I'll just chuck it away when the alarm sounds and go back to sleep.. this way I HAVE to get up to stop the annoyance .. and well since I'm up ....

Both have worked well for the past umpteen years(maybe 6 or so) .. totally lost count/track of how long I've had them.

Another device to search for (for home) could be a Qi(wireless) powerbank device .. like THIS one.
There's a 100% likelyhood that the mAh rating will be more like 1000, as opposed to the 10000 rating they claim, but it's better than nothing, and good quality 18650 batteries are cheap now, so could be easily specced up to a decent capacity.
Reason for it being a good option is that it's then not tethered to the wall plug. Once it's charged, and phone charged, it's a mobile charger too. Been thinking of getting one for a while now.

    Hope that helps.
    Arthur.
