Has anyone fitted a Double Din head unit into their D2?

Hello folks, Has anyone fitted a double din head unit into their disco 2? I am saving up for a Pioneer one that is 6.2 inch. I have tried googling and looking through here but have not found too much. Can you get those dash kits for Discovery 2s?

If so, please share the good, bad and ugly as will be tackling this myself when I have saved enough over the next few weeks (currently have a Pioneer Single din unit in it)

I concur and fitted one like this to my D2.

Alternatively you can modify your surround (trim/re-fibreglass) and then fit a proper double DIN, but personally I would not bother, but stick with the above concept.

If you were interested in this latter option, I have a double DIN tutorial with pics done by an aulro member a few years ago that I saved and could send.

Used a universal steering wheel control adaptor, worked out fine.

The factory Harman Kardon amp and speakers retained as well.

Couldn't find any plug & play harness' though, so was a case of cut & solder the ISO plugs to the factory wiring.

    Cheers

I second that Alpo Halo 9. Best thing I had done prior to coming to Brisbane. Look threw eBay you can get them substantially cheaper than what the retailers are selling them for 😉

    Thanks Cambo

My D2a had the mid line audio so it didn’t use the extra plugs for the high end system and the factory loom had straight ISO connectors. Luckily I was able to find a head unit iso adaptor which had the SWC wire so it was plug and play.

I’m tempted to upgrade though and then I can put the kenwood into the Jag.

    Cheers
