    Thuraya Sat sleeve

Has anyone had anything to do with Thuraya sat sleeve, they are a device that is remote and you can sit it in a fixed place point it to the fixed satellite and then blue tooth it to your phone. $900 and a plan of $15 per month and various other plans. Sounds good, have a look at their web site.

We have had one for probably 5 plus years
    As you say

Set it up facing the sats
Then BT with your phone via the app
From memory you can have four phones using the connection simultaneously ?

Optus casual plan $15 a month and can stop start any number of times with just a phone call.

The way it is set up is the number is ďseenĒ by other phones as a Normal mobile number

So if you call and hang up from the sat to your contact so they know a call is on and they then call you back you can talk for $0 (assuming like most mobile plans your contacts calls to mobiles are free)

Call price isnít too ugly and txt from memory is 50c

There is an SOS button on the device which will connect you through to emergency contact without having to hook into BT etc

For our use it has been perfect for boat trips out beyond reception and bush trips

Thanks for that, the thing that has me interested is the fact that I could loan it to the kids when they go away nd give them a bit of security too,
