Thread: Flexible Solar Panel review

I’m about to retire the flexible solar panels on the defer, they’ll be making way for 3 new flexible panels, 1 hopefully they arrive before departure date and 2 hopefully they perform as good as ye olde ones.

Sadly these are no longer available as I’d purchase 3 in a heart beat

I’m thinking these at somewhere between 3 and 4 years old.

I always thought they we 120’s but my mate who is running the same reckons they are 110’s. I’ll confirm this when I remove them.

I was doing some work on the roof rack today and was up close and personal to the panels and first thought was geez they’re looking tired……and yes the panel are clean I.e. no dust/dirt on them




They say don’t judge a book by its cover…..

Took a snap shot of the panel performance…..they seem to be punching out good numbers even if they are 120’s, oh and they are not supported in the middle of the panel either…..

I have used these flexible panels on a couple of occasions and in my own experiance although they did work they didn't perform to specc for that long , 3-4 years out of this type of panel is a pretty good effort.

I have found that the ridgid panels that I fitted about 6 years ago to be far more robust and are still operating at specc.
I alo noticed that my flexible pannels tended to "haze" up a bit after a year or so whereas the ridgid panels haven't seen these types of effects even after 6 years in the sun.

Glass v Plastic, not really a comparison……

I’m persisting with flexible for the trip due to tie application.
