Just fitted a GME Electrophone TX3220

Thanks to the guys in the "The problem is choice?", thread, I changed my mind about the Uniden and bought the GME from Prestige, as suggested.

Today I fitted the beast and it works like a rocket. I was listening to some truckies talking about a road accident holding up traffic at the notorious Brisbane Airport round-a-bout.

Not bad seeing the Disco was in the carport and the airport is at least 15km away.

Here is a pic of the fitting.

Once again, thanks for the advice to RaZz0R, it certainly helped me as well

    Gotta love this forum

    Cheers

Exactly where mine is, although i have the TX3200, you won't be disappointed, they are a great little radio.

You'll probably start getting comments about how clear you sound, as long as you have a decent antenna of coarse

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

3220 supercedes the 3200 as it doesn't have channel 22 and 23 as they're now for data transfer, I personally hate the auto squelch , but a tough unit none the less, you want to see what they go through here at work

    Thanks Baz,

I bought a 6db UHF 477mhz and UHF CB Antenna base with 5m cable, from the Member has an eBay StoreCB Accessories Shop, on Evil Bay. Both look to be very well made.

    Cheers

That's just where I want relocate mine to. Mine is beside my left leg on the tunnel and was there when I bought the car (a Tx3200 btw). I'm always bumping the channel selector unknowingly and the radio mike gets tangled in the handbrake and gearsticks when the passenger wants to use it.

How did you get the wiring into the roof console from the radio? Drill any holes for it to pass through?
Also is there power wiring in the roof console already for the sunroof. Although I notice you have a power sunroof so of course yours will. Mine maybe not.

I also don't like the auto squelch but that's what you get for compactness. I had the Tx4400 in my Rodeo but it had a spare DIN spot.

    Good Work Ron

Looks like that is the favourite spot for a UHF

I mounted mine up there too, however I ran a mic extension lead down the drivers A-pillar to the right of the steering wheel and now the mic hooks up on the actual a-pillar
    see here:

    HTML Code:

No cables dangling around my ears, and the passenger can't get involved in UHF conversations (he he he)

    Cheers
