I reckon they're all good. I bought an iphone because I wanted an iphone.
It's my first smartphone, so absolutely nothing to compare it to, except that it reminds me a lot of the first Palmpilot fifteen years ago.
It has a bunch of things that are irritating - screen brightness auto adjust, for example is getting better, but random at best. Itunes is stupid and counter-intuitive beyond belief, but has always been so.
You can get apps from other regions as long as you can give a region-based credit card and address.
Went from a phone that did nothing but phone, flashlight and SMS. Didn't think I'd ever use all the whizz bangery of an iphone. Now I use is for everything. About half of my research for uni is with the phone, most of the ebay buying and selling, banking, navigation, music, pics, books.
The screen is brilliant.
Very satisfying. Best purchase of last year.
I have recently swapped over to a Android (Samsung Galaxy) in a company full of Blackberries and iPhones.
The only other Android is the personal one of our resident geek, his is overclocked/unlocked/jailbreaked and probably tuned for 98RON unleaded, but the Samsung outperforms it easily.
Best smart phone I have had.
Battery life appears better than all of the iPhones, I plug in to charge 2-3x per week compared to daily for most of the others.
I leave data turned off unless I need it although I generally leave wifi on when in the office and at home.
Screen is good and the 'swipe' text input works so well it is a bit scary. Have also used voice to text and have loaded (from the official market) a few apps (not games) that I find useful for travel in Asia and other business use.
Did add Mapdroid for offline maps and a couple of simple apps for things like local news when away from home.
Vote 1 Android, but not all Androids are equal.
PS the Samsung PC software is rubbish.
I have the HTC Desire...the missus the iPhone 4. Horses for courses......I prefer mine....find it easier to navigate around. I get confused with the iPhone...mate has had to replace 4 or 5 iphone 3's. Camera and vid seems a bit better on her's...but then again I didnt buy mine for that. Plus the HTC is tied in with google.....so good apps for that. Not really interested in games etc. All in all really happy with the HTC,
Regards
Stevo
You people seem evenly split - that's not helping... :lol2:
If it really seems like 50:50 then I'd say go for the iPhone. The Apple ecosystem might be closed but in real life for 99% of people it makes life easier.
Retail outlets are awash with iPhone accessories, cases, etc etc whereas for the Android phones there is not as much choice.
I think you put it most simply. :thumbsup:Quote:

Cheap as chips.
iPhone is over hyped. It is a combination of marketing, brand loyalty and wanting to be trendy. No doubt they have some fun reafutres, but that is not a unique selling point by a long shot.
I love my Android phone. IT is fast, it is reliable. The whole Android virus scare is over hyped if yo just foloow some simple rules when surfing, like being sensible about where you go and what you do. There apps are brilliant if you want to use them. Browsing is very fast. Facebook is very fast.
Of course, and Apple fan would say all the same things about their iPhone.
We have HTC Desire and love them - that aside it really comes down to personal choice. Both do what they are meant to do - and well at at that. Unless you are a techy, on the face of it the systems are, from the consumer end, comparable. My advice is go into the phone shop and have a play and see what suits you. BTW, I also have a Blackberry for work and it sucks in comparison.
