How many products are you talking about and what sort of integration do you want with the rest of your website?

You can have a shop on ebay. It's the easiest and cheapest way to get started. Otherwise it's quite involved if you don't know what you are doing because there are so many options on how to do things it will make your head spin. Ebay is also good because you get traffic. It's not as easy as you think to drag visitors to your site no matter how good it is. The competition is tough and it can take time to get a good ranking on a search engine starting from scratch.
A good option is to start on ebay with a store while your real site is being developed so that you can inject the name of your business into the pages. It's the sort of thing that search engines take notice of.

I forgot to add that Australian online shopping habits are not the same as OS. Most online shopping by Australians is done via the likes of ebay. Apparently we tend to shy away from the normal retailers on line for some reason.
