Now hypothetical but why does Vista backup not work?
I have an old HP700 laptop running Vista 32bit Home Basic.
I back it up semi regularly , but this time when I went to back up, I cannot select Disk C. It appears greyed out . HP machines do a partition in the HD of C and D.
I tried everthing I know, but couldn't fix the problem so I downloaded a free backup program called EASUS Todo and attempted a backup of disk C.
It at first gave an error message saying "Check File System. Error on Partition 0 of Disk1" (which is C).Then it said checking file no errors found and did the backup.
Anyone know why the Microsoft backup system bailed out? and why an error would be introduced between April 2011 and now. Maybe caused by an update?
