As far as i was aware you can only sync one modem when using ADSL, adding another will just cause the first to drop out of sync.

But the ADSL modem is also the router so technically he's only connected to a internal dial up modem (which may not need be configured to dial out at all) and a router via IP which is internally configured to it's own connection to the ADSL modem.

It still needs to modulate/demodulate so i'm positive it wont work, good if it does but advice i've had from techs is that it wont . He can plug the wifi modem/router into the main modem and only use wifi but not with a phone line connected.

    Just to clarify.

I am running ADSL and a voice/fax modem on the one line.
    ADSL obviously internet.
Voice/fax modem as fax/answering machine using an old version of "winfax pro".

I've had no problems. Simple to set up.

Well that was a horrible experience. Just downloaded faxtalk on trial, plugged it in to hte phone line and tried to send Dave a fax.

I dialled in, it answered and stayed connected to the internet at the same time.

I'm not seeing any problem. I've got adsl via wifi, plus an old style modem in the laptop.

If you want to send faxes like emails it looks like it will do the job.

Easy-to-use Fax software, Network Fax Server, Voice Messaging software and Answering Machine software. FaxTalk - Because your calls are important!
