Try connecting straight to your router with an ethernet cable and start it again. Sometimes wireless pops in and out for a few seconds and that can be enough to break an upload.
trying to upload a 15 minute video to youtube.
Never had dramas in the past but those were shorter videos and uploaded from a different computer with a wired cable i/net connection.
Currently using a laptop with wifi to hub (cable optus connection) Browser Google Chrome
The "estimated time" to upload a 15 min video is / was 360 minutes ! That in itself didn't surprise me particularly but I left it go for hours while I went out for a ride, and on my return it was sitting there saying upload error. Well that was 3 hours wasted.....
So I kick it off again last night... seemed to be going OK and was down to 315 minutes remaining, with the % bar slowly ticking along so I closed the lid of the lappy and went to bed.
Opened it this morning and its still (supposedly) uploading and claims to be 35% done HOWEVER "time remaining" is 936 minutes and that hasn't changed for a while now.![]()
Not happy Jan.
Can anyone shed any light as to what might be going on, and even better how I might fix it?
The video is about 1.29Gb total file size, and its an HD quality video.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Now its finally reached 100% and sayingIt's been there a while...This is taking longer than expected. Your video has been queued and will be processed as soon as possible.
Anyone had that before ?

What WiFi are you using? 802.11n won't be an issue but if you are using g then it will most likely be timing out on slow speed.

Is that a foreign language. I have no idea what that means or how to find out.
Been sitting there at 100% for 7 hours.
Checked in another window and video is NOT shown as uploaded, presumably as the upload/conversion process hasn't fully finished?
Damn this is frustrating.

Sorry I thought you were more IT savvy
802.11g and 802.11n are two WiFi standard with n being significantly faster than g.
I suspect you are using 802.11g and that YouTube is spending most of the time waiting for data during the upload process. As mentioned above I would be plugging it via a cable and not using WiFi.
How big is the actual file size?

Havent got a way to plug in direct to cable at the moment but in a few weeks I'll be at a different computer direct to cable etc so will be able to sort it out then anyway.
How would I find out what wifi I have?

Have a look at the spec's on the WiFi router or the WiFi device on your PC.
I'm a little confusedHow come you can't plug an ethernet cable in to your router? Is it just that the PC and router are in different rooms?
1.29GB ... No wonder you're having issuesI would look at dropping the resolution or changing the format of the video. I assume that it is in full HD if it is only 15 mins long.

I think I read on youtubethat the movie length you could submit had to be a certain size or ten minutes in duration, I maybe wrong here as I spend way to much time researching on the WWW and therefore may have read it somewhere else, but it is worth a read on there site maybe.
Hope this helps or guides you into and answer.

VladTepes,
Not sure if this will help much but it may help you rule out a few things
1. Youtube max video size is 2 GB
2. Youtube max video length is 15 minutes
Youtube blog quotes
You can ask for an increase if you verify your account.
From Youtube help forums:
"The processing time depends on several factors, the size of the file you uploaded, the length of the file video you uploaded and the current load on the server doing the processing.
For most videos, they will process in under 2 hours. If it is taking an excessive amount of time (an entire day for instance) there are two common causes:
1) the video had problem during the uploading of the video causing an incomplete file or corrupted file. Deleting the video from YouTube and re-uploading may help.
2) the video that you uploaded is in a format that YouTube's encoders don't understand. YouTube's encoders can handle a large variety of video formats but not all of them. Often users mistakenly upload data files such as project files from their editor or audio files (YouTube is a video sharing site). The solution is to encode your videos to a format that YouTube likes (h.264, WMV, MPEG-2)."
It doesn't surprise me that it is taking so long to upload.
Most ADSL2+ plans will only allow for a 1 Mega bits per second (Mbps) upload which ~ 105 Kilo Bytes per second (KBps) and you are uploading ~ 1,352,660 KB of data which equates to about 375 hours of upload time!!?? just to move it to Youtube's servers from you Laptop / PC
This will of course change dependant on your home connection and network load etc.
I would agree with DMDigital that you should look at transcoding this yourself into a different format before uploading to Youtube. You may be able to use a free program like Handbrake (download from Sourceforge.net)
Cheers
