    MacBook Pro Retina Display

Got it this afternoon and ... WOW

The resolution is truly fantastic. Still to install Aperture, Nik and PS CS5 etc, etc so have to wait and see what images look like. I know PS has issues with the retina display but I also have the 27" Thunderbolt display as my desktop screen.

Mines on the slow boat. Got the external optical drive today, separately for some reason. First foray into Macs, used to be a hater but this is a thing of beauty.

What are the must have accessories DM?

I have the Magic Trackpad from my old dead iMac. For me the two I needed to get were the Thunderbolt to Ethernet and to Firewire adaptors for when I am travelling. If it is any consolation mine took exactly two weeks to arrive and of that 4 days was shipping. So all up not a long delay. I bought through the Apple Store because of the high cost of shipping if I bought elsewhere,

    Hi Derek.

My daughter bought the little i5 13" w/retina display, and Michelle & I bought 2x iPad3 w/retina display (our first Mac products btw, apart from iPhones).

Very impressive ! Especially for videos.

    I am impressed

I've been using a 13" MBP for the last few months since my iMac died, not ideal as a full photo editing tool but a good solid work horse. My wife loves her iPad too and the display on it is one of the reasons I went for the retina display MacBook.

I've just uploaded about 550 images or a little over 8GB from CF card via Firewire/Thunderbolt. This would have previously taken me about 10-15 minutes via Firewire. The new MacBook did it in about 1 minute

IMO laptops are not good for PP, it is better to use a second monitor to do a proper editing using the LT monitor for the tools in PS and the desk top monitor for the images.
With PSCS5 and 6 it is easy to do that and in the OS the calibration of the both displays can be done separated.
As soon as I have some PP to do I will set up my Vaio

Until I got the MPB with retina display I would have totally agreed with you. The line has now been redrawn and I have to say it is definitely an option with this laptop.

The exception is Photoshop ... it really, really needs to be fixed for the retina display
