    Computor from USA

    Has anybody bough a computor tower from America. Looked at an ASUS tower from Harvey Norman. $1988 Same basic unit from USA $1000- 1200 delivered. Slight difference in part no. (Aus) CM6870-AU...... ( US ) CM6870-US ......
    What are the pitfalls & any other problems for buying from overseas. Not sure if there 110 volt or 240 volt tho.
    As best as I can tell specifications are the same.

    My sister bought a laptop from the US. When it started playing up, they couldn't get it fixed because the US specced units had different components to the Aus market ones.

    The 110v could pose a problem, although most tower power supplies have a toggle at the back for changing the input voltage.

    The US keyboard maybe configured with a very minor difference in some of the keys but it is no big deal -- and does not effect functionality

    Point to note nearly all PCs and the like are manufactured in Asia so try source from the Orient as a better buying option than the USA!

    Why would you look at hardly normal to buy a pc, go to your local chinese owned pc shop and get one built. 2K is way over the top for a pc these days unless you are buying an over priced Mac.

    It was just an option. Was going to cost me about $900 to have my old girl rebuilt and upgraded. May get some quotes on having one built.

    Some spec's 2TB HDD, 16 GB Ram, Intel I7 & 2- 3 GB dedicated graphics. +++++++. Windows 7 or 8

    The old girl was 250GB HDD, 2 GB Ram, Intel Core 2 Duo ( about 2.3 Ghz) & Windows XP. Starting to have a few problems. So I think its time to upgrade.

    As for H/N usually get a pretty good deal there.

    MSY can give a bit of a shock regarding customer service, IT guys aren't known for their small talk, but the value for money can't be beat so it is well worth it!

    depends on the store, hell depends on the person you get.
