Hint
If you are having trouble setting up a homegroup on a second or subsequent computer, and it says "incorrect password" when you try to use the account password for that user/computer the solution is that there is a randomly generated password which is listed on the first computer that you opened a homegroup on.
You can open the pane, by going to "settings" then typing homegroup in the box but only on the first computer.
This password does not appear on the second computer and the Microsoft answers are incorrect. The option of showing the password does not show up either. Only on the first computer.
Once I typed in the password from the first computer all is well, but took me a while to figure it out.

Well you don't have to sit there.Quote:
On what PLANET can "all day" including 6 hours of settings be acceptable or make anyone happy?
I went out and played tennis and went to the shops.
It just kachunks away with a watch dial telling you what it is doing..
I don't know why it took so long on that computer as it is newer/faster than the others and I feared that Win 10 had crashed again, so I was happy when it finally came up as installed, and I have shut down and rebooted several times so it appears stable.

I should emphasize that it is a big thing to install a new operating system on a computer and something that people rarely do, most just buying say a WIN 7 machine and never changing.
If you are running anything before 2007 then you're stuck in the dark ages..
Its an IT nightmare trying to support legacy gear for people who wont move forward...
Even the development of the PC has been continually hindered by the need to make things "backward" compatible...
Have any of the members give the flick to MS Office and using Open Office?
I do on Win 8.1 :)
Haven't touched Windows (or Office) for about six or seven years.Working quite happily on Linux using LibreOffice.
One of the major problems with Windows 10 showed up recently however - I am on the NBN Interim Satellite Service, which has very restricted bandwidth and small data allowances (maximum 20GB for most) with draconian restrictions if you go over the limits.
Not only have there been loud wails from others on the service about it using all their data allowance, but the heavy downloads have caused other users, including myself, significant problems. And it is not just when you get it initially, apparently - it keeps on doing large updates without any user say-so.
Took me nineteen hours to download a Linux update of less than 1GB.

i used open office 10 years ago when it was popular.
