    Question Reliability



    Anyone care to venture an opinion?
    All the Windows errors are "bad shutdown" ,, basically a hard reset,, cos thats all there is left to do when this thing freezes.

    and it will do it at any time,
    there are no dumps generated to read.
    and yes all the drivers are up to date.

    I've had a program called "whocrashed" running throughout this and nothing to report,,
    windows memory test runs fine.

    Have you checked your cpu temp by any chance?
    A blocked sync can make a system do this.
    Hard to tell with such little info though.

    I had a similar random shutdown/crash/lockup issue on my laptop a while ago ... must have been a CPU overheating issue because as soon as I cleaned the air filter in the bottom of the laptop the problem dissapeared!

    ... and didn't some crap come out of the filter !!

    as luck would have it
    two seconds after I started "CoreTemp" it froze again, all 4 cores showed around 48, this would be pretty close to idle,,

    I'm wondering if a (one of two) dud video card is doing this,,

    what driver you running?

    was it doing it prior to the last driver update?

    Bad cards like video or ram could do it. Will it work ok in safe mode? Sometimes a poor MB battery can do it.
