I run a flavour of Linux. Have done for years. I prefer it when playing on the web.
However, not all software can be run on it.
Can you find a linux version of my BlackVue software because it won't run on wine?

Before changing operating system, Chops, I'd make sure that mapping/navigation software you've got has a linux equivalent.
I dont know what wont run on Wine as for my computer usage I have never needed to use Wine. If you use some specialized Windows program it is possible Wine wont help you, but this can be checked by running side by side before you dive into Linux. No rose coloured specs, but I would not go back to Windows if they paid me to do so, just my opinion.

So that would be a no.

Before I dive into linux! I'm tipping I've been using linux a lot longer than you. Linux is quite limited when you see what is written for Windows.

I have been using Linux for maybe 5 years, so I dont know who has used it longer, not really important IMO. Yes there probably is a lot more stuff written for Windows, but that is changing and fast as Android is a form of Linux. Also most people get Windows as they think it is the only option apart Apple, and most people use the computer just to surf the net, send emails, download movies and music (legally of course), forums and accounts etc Linux will do all this very well indeed and a lot more. I installed Mint onto the Father in laws computer and dumped Widows 7 as he was for ever getting viruses. If something pops up he clicks on it and I have to go and fix up the mess. I put Linux on and installed the programs he needed and he does not notice the difference from Windows for his uses anyway.
All I am saying Mick is unless someone has really specific needs from their computer Linux avoids a lot of Microsoft bull and for free.
