How to Remove Annoying Ad-free Outlook

    Hello IT types,

In my Hotmail account there is a right-hand side side panel that has recently appeared by its own volition and extends down the whole length of the page. The side bar says "it looks like you are using an Adblocker... Sign up for Ad-free outlook

How can I remove this annoying bit of unsolicited outlook self promotion?

If I wanted to use their product I would have already done so. I have tried to look for an exit button for it however there does not seem to be one.

I reckon Hotmail went to the dogs after outlook came along - yes a deliberate lower-case "o" for outlook.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

You are already doing so. Hotmail is 'outlook'. Just what the ad free version is I don't know. Probably you pay and get some extra space in 'onedrive' or something plus no nags.

    Hello It Types,

Here is a screenshot of what comes up. The side bar is the thing I would like to remove.

    Kind Regards

Your probably referring to the desktop 'outlook'. Linelgee is referring to 'outlook.com', the web application.

hotmail is outlook.com by another name

your using an adblocker that deprives them of that ability to fund their service in the way they choose.

in the not to distant future it wouldn't surprise me if they blocked access completely if using adblocking tech.

you would be better off using mozilla thunderbird or some other free email client, maybe opera with its built in email and adblocking tech, then you wouldn't have to worry about adverts when you pick up your mail

all the major free email services are about to bring in some more stringent usage rules i believe .... be interesting to see how if influences the user experience and viability of the services...
