Thread: windoze 10...will or wont I

I changed to Win 10 about a month ago after humming and harring for ages, then I thought bugga it I'll jump in the deep end.

I went from Win 7, 64 bit to Win 10, 64 bit with no problems at all. Takes about 90 minutes or so to download. I'm no computer wiz and I have read here about people having problems but so far so good for me.

If I had to buy it I would probably stay with Win7 as I found it a good OS.

You have to get used to a slightly different layout but it doesn't take long. If I can do it, not being a computer wiz, anybody can. Good luck if you decide to change.

As I got more proficient with WIN10 , I found more and more that WIN 7 sits behind it.
If you right click on the little flag in the LH corner , up comes the WIN7 menu .
I must say I find Edge less than exciting But there is always Firefox.
There is enough out there on Google these days to fix most of the problems that some people encounter.
My installs have been good on 3 Pcs without many problems.

I've had very few issues (if any) with Win 10. I have it on my desktop and laptop. I upgraded from Win 7 Professional 64-bit.

Just be aware WHY windows is giving this away,,
(not that, in the end, we will have any choice about it)
because after the whole world upgrades for free,,
and after a sufficiently suitable time has gone by,,
windows will start charging you for each years use.
Instead of getting $$ off some of the world every other couple of years,, they will now get $$ off EVERY user EVERY year.


is the upgrade worth it?
I paid for 8,, and it was worth every cent of $25,,
would I pay for the upgrade of 8 to 10?

The free upgrade ends in few days though I have seen no official word of what will happen after that. I have upgraded one computer but have left another on win7. The main reason, DRM protection on some games I occasionally play is incompatible with win10. DRM strikes again and not to the benefit of the user.

When that happens, Linux users will find it even harder to understand why so many people persist with Windows.

Well I took the plunge and updated.

Pretty well painless process.
Unchecked a lot of things in the settings menu before I started.

I'm leaving my other laptop on 32 bit win 7,cause my faultmate wont work on win 10.

We'll see how I go over the next few days.

Won't affect most people, but there seems to be an issue with the new NBN Sky Muster satellite service related to W10. It can be fixed by turning off IPv6, but what exactly is happening is quite unclear.

Just another issue with W10. And then, of course, if you are on this service, you need to be aware that if the household has a couple of W10 machines, software updates, unapproved and not even known of, by the customer, can use your entire monthly data allowance.
