    I shall treat billys profanity with the contempt it deserves and ignore al mention of the antiChrist.

    I'm a bit confused here Pedro (which is nothing unusual ), what do you mean by ..... no onboard vid, or intel cpu graphics allowed with this board ..... ?, when I look up the motherboard specs (MSI B85 M-E45) it tells me ..... 3 Display Outputs: HDMI/DVI/D-Sub Support ..... what am I missing here ?

    The original Dell board would probably (possibly) have analog and display port outputs. If you're still using this board and its analog output it might be worthwhile trying the display port output via a suitable adapter to the monitor digital input.

    On another tack, if booting via F8 into a basic boot mode does the video still flicker ? similarly by temporarily disabling unnecessary items using msconfig make a difference. If so this could point to driver or driver conflict issues.

    IGD stands for integrated graphics device ie. onboard video and PEG stands for PCI express graphics ie. external video card.

    I agree, but Deano still insists on being an old fashioned stubborn cuss who hasn't seen the light and still plays with the frustrating windows system.
    Why, because he always had one

    And because he can. They can't ply with the apple which is why they can't stiff it. To each his own I suppose.

    Afaik,, this MB only works with a Vid card,, even if your CPU has on-board graphics,,

    The original Dell board would probably (possibly) have analog and display port outputs.
    (Mini HDMI and Display Port)

    Apparently after some research--
    The DELL is still under warranty,,
    so I placed a support thing about the CPU,,

    not too sure how it will go since I've replaced nearly everything

    I rebuilt the DELL using the old bits and returned it,, yes it still flickered

    So the DELL Tech has been to my sisters,,
    and according to Wendy has installed a new cpu on a new MB,, and got flickers,,

    She says at the end he got no flickers without using a graphics card, and now wants the original to test,,
    except it went out with the garbage two weeks back as it didnt work.... (in a totally different machine)
    surely he would have a known good one to test with??
    or just use the new one??

    and why would he leave without fixing or replacing?

    though there is an option in the Bios under Intergrated graphics though,, a choice of IGD or PEG.
    any thoughts on what these mean?

    No onboard video allowed?
    Why is this?

    IGD = Integrated Graphics Device.
    PEG = Pci-Express Graphics device.

    if you choose PEG, it should also give you an option to set multiplication factor.

    Ah, OK.
    It's probably a BIOS issue then.

    When you said no on board video, I read it as there is none.

    I skimmed through the thread and couldn't find anywhere where you said you have tried a different video cable? Both HDMI or VGA cables can be faulty and cause all kinds of errors on screen.
