    ADSL 2

What should a good speed be for this? Mine has 7 meg download and 0.9 meg upload. I think this is too slow.

That is better than I manage in the suburbs of Canberra - ADSL degrades the further you are from the exchange - full speed is only available 1-2km away and it has dropped off a lot by 4 -5 km away.

If you're hanging on the end of 6 Km of copper with 7 Mbps X 0.9 Mbps ADSL data speed you're doing very, very well. It might be slower than you want/need/expect but a great result from a technical perspective.

Mine can get as low as about 7 or 8 during busy times, but is usually around 17 or 18 at other times.

8 to 10 usually, but when it's quiet I can get 17 or 18. I'm 4KM by road to the Exchange.

NBN has just been switched on in my area, so I'm dreading what is to come - maybe if I pay for the 100MBPS plan I might just keep my 8 to 10...

    They are ADSL2+ speeds.

ADSL2 up to theoretical maximum of 12 Mbps

ADSL2+ up to theoretical maximum of 24 Mbps

Thanks - yes, it may be 2+ now you've said that. As long as Netflix streams ok I don't really care...
