just a quick update,, while I've found it hard to add more than one folder that updates to the NAS,,
it is, at the moment, transferring/saving at 61,677 kbs a sec,,
yep thats 61 thousand,,
I understand its not a GB a sec,, but really,, for less than $5,,,,,
(mind you,, its disconcerting to see my pc UPLOADING at that rate--- )

That'll be about 7 Megabytes/sec.
That's roughly what I'd have expected from Ethernet.
You're never going to get the full 100 mbps out of the system.
FWIW: on the gigabit setup I've created for my network, the maximum transfer rate I've seen over the wire has been 60-70 Mb/s, and that's from my new PC, with a Killer Networks eth chip to the QNAP.
With all other devices, all claiming to have 'gigabit' capability, I reckon max transfer rates were in the 40-50Mb/s range.
What are you using for transferring/syncing?
Depending on your requirements, I'd highly recommend both or either; FreeFileSync, and or FastCopy.
Have you mapped the QNAP as a network folder on your PC? Obviously not the entire QNAP needs to be mapped as a network folder or drive, just whatever area you need to have access too.
I'm using Qsync, the Qnap software/app.
