Just trying to do good here and backup/sync some files to my QNAP,,
and I get a LOT of these,,
now they are only 24kbs each,,
but there are well over 280 thousand lines of them,,
I know what they are, well sort of,
but what I dont understand is how they get generated,,
why does qsync generate its own set of files?
these are all from
C:/ user/me/ etc,,,
as far as I can tell they are all from games,,
and I havent even started qsync yet---

nope,, theres something wrong,, it just doesnt want to install,, its only 1.9mg so it should be finished unpacking after I unclick,, but i get the busy circle for minutes,,
I got it from major geeks so it should be fine,,,
it IS 6 years old now though,,

In the Appdata directories on the whole, the files in each directory are settings placeholders for the various software you use.
eg. you have in Appdata/Qnap/QSYNC/ blah .. blah .. you have many previous settings file data that QSYNC has generated that will be used to remember what to do, or how to assist you in future applications of the QSYNC software.
You can safely delete much of the data in the various directories under the Appdata, but you lose many settings files that tell whatever software how to look, or what to have ready to go the next time it opens.
And it should also be obvious that there are some data you shouldn't delete if you value the workings of some other software.
eg. if you use Firefox as your browser, and value any saved data and settings, then you wouldn't want to delete the Mozilla folder(usually under Roaming).
for me, some of my most used software is Thunderbird, Nikon's raw converter software, Firefox just to name a few.
Thunderbird and Firefox store some valuable data, emails, email logins, and so on .. Bookmarks in FF, saved passwords(can't be stuffed loging in every time) .. etc, etc. Don't delete that stuff. .. more hassle than the space saved and HDD defragged than it's worth.
Same with most M$ appdata .. not worth deleting it in many instances.
OTOH, Nikon's incessant collection of many gigabytes of space wasting file data doesn't hurt to delete every now and then.
Same for any Adobe app data. I just delete the entire folders for some programs. You probably still have folders for stuff(programs) you deleted ages ago .. and worse still!! .. for programs that you haven't installed, but got side installed when you installed something else(usually free software).
Some computer cleaning software can't clean that stuff out effectively(it just thinks this is data you need!) .. so a manual look in every now and then and manual delete of strange stuff every now and then doesn't hurt.
When it comes to deleting entries in the appdata location, if you're not sure, leave it, or search for it to work out what it is/was/does/did ..
So QSYNC is just storing settings data it wants to use at a later date. You don't need to back that data up.
One folder I never backup is my User folder. I don't keep any valuable data in there. All my valuable(backeruppable!) data is stored on any non system HDD, from which it's backed up to the NAS.
If you still have trouble with Karens, try FreeFileSync.
Going by your screenshot, it looks to be similar to QSync anyhow

Ok,, so I've gone back into my folders and basically deleted all references to qnap,, and I'll sync files to it as "just another drive",, which it always was I guess,,
at least this should get rid of all my LOOOONG file names,,
am using Allway Sync,, and no its not as nice as karens,, but it works..
