    Firefox update

So a not just a new update, but seemingly an all new Firefox has landed on my computer yesterday.

What you’ll notice first is that the new Firefox is blazing fast. In
fact, you’ll enjoy speeds up to twice as fast as a year ago.
    It’s also
more powerful. We’ve rebuilt Firefox from the ground up to focus on how
you use the Web today to watch, listen, create and play without limits.
We’re excited to deliver a browser that feels completely different —
modern, quick and efficient. We think you’ll agree: It’s a quantum leap
forward in how you’ll experience the Internet.
This thing is now so incredibly slow that it is totally unusable. Sadly, at this stage it is goodbye Firefox, hello...... gulp...... IE..... you're infinitely better.
    Cheers
    Slunnie

Thanks Inc. I see Firefox ESR has had an update at the same time as the regular version.

Is that still much chop with the update?

My update sped FF up by a massive margin.
I did nothing.. it just updated.
I had it in mind to install this Quantum version of FF a while back but forgot.

Almost all addons may need to be updated tho .. all mine needed too.

But having now checked Quantum's memory usage, it's much lower than it used to be with the last version of FF(64bit) .. so at least they've successfully implemented that aspect.
Not that memory capacity is an issue with 32G available .. just annoying to see the old FF using over 2G sometimes!

I won't go back to IE, but I have used Edge a few times and apart from an unfamiliar interface .. didn't seem too bad.

Ahhh, looks like I've sorted the problem and its running well now. I've disabled a couple of startup items and its good now.

Its good, because it all came flooding back as to why I hated IE also.

As did the one on IOS 11. And macOS High Sierra. Both seem faster, but still not Safari speeds.

V57 is still rubbish. Now on ESR, hopefully it will remain good! Thanks for the headsup Inc.
