    Bluetooth.

Please follow along.. its a serious question..

Say you are standing in Harvey Norman, or Joyce Mayne or any major TV retailer showroom.
There are 20 odd TV's on display,, all showing different movies/shows
You place an identical Bluetooth wifi dongle in every TV running,

How can you tell from the list that comes up on your phone which TV is displaying what?

and the followup question is,, which device is in charge of security/pairing?

each bluetooth has its own unique mac address which is usually printed on the back of the tv.

The Netflix on the phone is cast to the dongle on the TV via the Google 'Home' App on the phone.

    Hi,
I'm no expert, but this is how mine worked.
My son has a Netflix acct, so using that on the tablet I can see Netflix.
Installed Google Home on the tablet.
Bought a Google WiFi to HDMI dongle. This gets power from a usb port and feeds to an HDMI port on the TV. It is paired to the tablet.
With Home running on the tablet, Netflix, YouTube etc show a Cast to Living Room TV symbol at the top of the screen.
When showing a movie, the dongle picks up the WiFi directly, bypassing the tablet.
Thus, to stop, pause, rewind etc you have to do that in Home on the tablet, which is ungracefull.
i.e. by the time you get it paused, whoever needed an urgent leak has returned to the room.

Have just replaced this software solution with a smart TV. So much faster and easier, or it will be when I eventually learn how to drive the hierarchical menu maze.
    Cheers

    Hmm, ok,,
if there are 6 tv's showing 6 different shows with the same wifi dongle in each,
and I want to listen to show from number 2,,
can I pick the right show from the info off my phone?
